We are to give only by the Spirit and not by the letter of the law even the law of tithing and offerings.
The New Testament has moved us from the law of 10% tithing to 100% of all we have.
All we are and all we have is Christs and He is now Lord of all.
Our hearts, souls bodies, families, homes, our cares, our finances all is now His.
Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them.
42 And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.
43 Then fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles. 44 Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common, 45 and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as anyone had need.
46 So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart,
47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved. Acts 2:41-47

Therefore, when we receive money that He provides us, we need to surrender it back to the Lord and then ask Him to show us what He wants to do with His finances.
We need to be Led by His Spirit in our giving and not come under a law to give.
As long as we obey and come under the law of the tithe we forfeit the grace we see in Galatians 5:1-4 to hear God.
Only when we hear Him and walk by the Spirit will we reap by His Spirit and not come under the law.
Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.
2 Indeed I, Paul, say to you that if you become circumcised, Christ will profit you nothing.
3 And I testify again to every man who becomes circumcised that he is a debtor to keep the whole law.
4 You have become estranged from Christ, you who attempt to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace. Galatians 5:1-4
As we disengage from the law (in our giving) we will be released from the curse that the law brought upon us
Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”),
14 that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. Galatians 3:13,14
When we come into His Spirit and come out from under the law we will begin to hear God clearly with reference to giving. As God owns 100% of every cent He provides, not just 10%.
If He indeed owns it all, He is indeed willing and able to tell me what to do with it all.
Once we learn that God owns it all, not only the tenth that many of us have been taught, we now become stewards and not owners this will bring us into a greater depth of understanding of our stewardship of all
He has given us.
“But if you are led of the Spirit, you are not under the law” Galatians 5:18
Let a man so consider us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God. 2 Moreover it is required in stewards that one be found faithful. 1 Cor 4:1-2
As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
11 If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen. 1 Peter 4:10-11
Sons are led by the Spirit
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. Romans 8:14
Sons are led by His Spirit, while religious slaves and orphans obey the law.
Anything not done by faith IS SIN!
Our giving will not receive God’s blessing if we do not do it by faith. Faith comes by hearing God speak to us.
Therefore, we receive faith to give as He speaks to us to give of His finances to what work He desires.
Now we are free and we will receive a blessing on our sowing as we are doing it faith, freedom and joy not under the fear of coming under the curse we see in the law found in Malachi 3:8-9
“Will a man rob God?
Yet you have robbed Me!
But you say,
‘In what way have we robbed You?’
In tithes and offerings.
9 You are cursed with a curse,
For you have robbed Me,
Even this whole nation.
Freedom in Christ from the law of sin and death
We have been set free from the curse of the law.
For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse; for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all things which are written in the book of the law, to do them.”
11 But that no one is justified by the law in the sight of God is evident, for “the just shall live by faith.” 12 Yet the law is not of faith, but “the man who does them shall live by them.”
13 Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”),
14 that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. Galatians 3:10-14
We are now free as we see in this offering of the Corinthian church 2 Corinthians 9:5-15 we now no longer give under compulsion but as we are led by His Spirit and purpose in our hearts.
Therefore I thought it necessary to exhort the brethren to go to you ahead of time, and prepare your generous gift beforehand, which you had previously promised, that it may be ready as a matter of generosity and not as a grudging obligation.
But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.
7 So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.
8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.
9 As it is written:
“He has dispersed abroad,
He has given to the poor;
His righteousness endures forever.”10 Now may He who supplies seed to the sower, and bread for food, supply and multiply the seed you have sown and increase the fruits of your righteousness,
11 while you are enriched in everything for all liberality, which causes thanksgiving through us to God.
12 For the administration of this service not only supplies the needs of the saints, but also is abounding through many thanksgivings to God,
13 while, through the proof of this ministry, they glorify God for the obedience of your confession to the gospel of Christ, and for your liberal sharing with them and all men,
14 and by their prayer for you, who long for you because of the exceeding grace of God in you.
Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift! 2 Corinthians 9:5-15
Could it be that our legalistic giving was hindering God’s provision in our lives?
who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. (2 Corinthians 3:6).
For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. (Romans 8:2)
Only that sown under the direct unction (instruction) of His Spirit sown in faith with a joyful heart will bear fruit.
Any sowing done under compulsion and fear of the law WILL NOT PRODUCE and Grow!.
That done under strict obedience to the law will cause God’s grace (to hear) Him speak to you, to be forfeited.
The grace of His voice comes through faith and not by the law.
Therefore, coming under the law of tithing can actually hinder your blessing as anything done in fear and compulsion will not be blessed as He loves a cheerful giver.
He also says anything that is not of faith is sin.
