Giving legalistically will bring you into poverty

Could it be that our legalistic giving was hindering God’s provision in our lives?

who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. (2 Corinthians 3:6).

For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. (Romans 8:2)

Only that sown under the direct unction (instruction) of His Spirit sown in faith with a joyful heart will bear fruit.

Any sowing done under compulsion and fear of the law WILL NOT PRODUCE and Grow!.

That done under strict obedience to the law will cause God’s grace (to hear) Him speak to you, to be forfeited.

The grace of His voice comes through faith and not by the law.

Therefore, coming under the law of tithing can actually hinder your blessing as anything done in fear and compulsion will not be blessed as He loves a cheerful giver.

He also says anything that is not of faith is sin.

He is your provider

Surrender all our needs and finances, job, business and ministry back to the Lord.

Jehovah Jireh

But the Angel of the LORD called to him from heaven and said, “Abraham, Abraham!”
So he said, “Here I am.”

12 And He said, “Do not lay your hand on the lad, or do anything to him; for now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from Me.”

13 Then Abraham lifted his eyes and looked, and there behind him was a ram caught in a thicket by its horns. So Abraham went and took the ram, and offered it up for a burnt offering instead of his son.

14 And Abraham called the name of the place, The-LORD-Will-Provide; as it is said to this day, “In the Mount of the LORD it shall be provided.” Gen 22:11

He is the Lord God who provides on His mountain. If it is His will then He will provide!

Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised
In the city of our God,
In His holy mountain.

2 Beautiful in elevation,
The joy of the whole earth,
Is Mount Zion on the sides of the north,
The city of the great King.

3 God is in her palaces;
He is known as her refuge. Psalm 48:1-3

He provides and pays for what He calls and orders.

There is provision in His vision.

It is the Lord Jesus's responsibility to provide for your family as He called you and He is faithful to provide through whatever channel He decides whether it is through a salary, business or donations or any combination He so decides.

He is the provider and He decides the channel

If you are in business it is His responsibility to prosper the business as long as you are doing your part and being diligent in the spiritual areas and practical areas in the business and finances.

If you are in a job or in ministry the Lord still is able to supply you as He chooses. He is not limited to your job or people who support or don’t support you.

As a son, you are not supposed to work for money. As a son, you inherit through being full of faith and obedient.

He has already done and completed all these works before the foundation of the world.

If He has done the works then how could I even try and do my own works?

For every house is built by someone, but He who built all things is God. Hebrews 3:4

For we who have believed do enter that rest, as He has said: “So I swore in My wrath, ‘They shall not enter My rest,’ ” although the works were finished from the foundation of the world Hebrews 4:3

For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:10

To trust completely in Him and rest in Him in business and ministry

The key to all blessings in His Kingdom is faith and obedience to His Spirit.

Jesus paid my tithes under the law so I do not have to tithe to be righteous. His blood now speaks His blessings over me even the blessings of Abraham who tithed to Melchezidek. See Genesis 14:18-20; Hebrews 7:6-10

Jesus came to fulfil the law and that includes the law of tithing by keeping all the LAW and therefore fulfilling the law for our sakes.

The law of tithing has been done away with under the new covenant but not the spiritual law of sowing and reaping that we see in Galatians 6:7 this law is not a law to keep as a commandment but a law to remember and to work with.

To only do what He shows me to do nothing else…

No more dead works… unless he does the works then my faith is dead

True divine revelation, when applied, will always produce divine results.

The fact that the teachings we have been depending on are not producing proves that there is a problem somewhere in the teaching.

God provides for all He calls, He supplies and He is able to.

IF IT DOESN’T ORIGINATE BY THE SPIRIT, IT ISN'T GOD!

When you stop, He starts. When you start, He stops!”

We need to enter the REST of Hebrews 4 that produces trust and obedience, and trust and obedience produces the provision of God “Of my own self, I can do nothing.”

Where and to whom do you give?

Sharing amongst the brethren:

There is a principal of sharing as we see in Acts 2 and 4, they shared what they had with those who never had and everyone had enough.
2 Corinthians 9:13, Galatians 6:6, Ephesians 4:16

Giving to widows and orphans and the poor

Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world. James 1:27

But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind. Luke 14:13

They desired only that we should remember the poor, the very thing which I also was eager to do. Galatians 2:10

Giving to those who minister the word to you

Whoever goes to war at his own expense? Who plants a vineyard and does not eat of its fruit? Or who tends a flock and does not drink of the milk of the flock?

8 Do I say these things as a mere man? Or does not the law say the same also?

9 For it is written in the law of Moses, “You shall not muzzle an ox while it treads out the grain.” Is it oxen God is concerned about?

10 Or does He say it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written, that he who plows should plow in hope, and he who threshes in hope should be partaker of his hope.

11 If we have sown spiritual things for you, is it a great thing if we reap your material things?

12 If others are partakers of this right over you, are we not even more?
Nevertheless we have not used this right, but endure all things lest we hinder the gospel of Christ.

13 Do you not know that those who minister the holy things eat of the things of the temple, and those who serve at the altar partake of the offerings of the altar?

14 Even so the Lord has commanded that those who preach the gospel should live from the gospel. 1 Corinthians 9:7-14

Nevertheless you have done well that you shared in my distress.

15 Now you Philippians know also that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church shared with me concerning giving and receiving but you only.

16 For even in Thessalonica you sent aid once and again for my necessities.

17 Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that abounds to your account.

18 Indeed I have all and abound. I am full, having received from Epaphroditus the things sent from you, a sweet-smelling aroma, an acceptable sacrifice, well pleasing to God.

19 And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:14-19

The Spiritual law of sowing and reaping

There is a spiritual law of sowing and reaping that applies to all things in our lives including finances Galatians 6:6-10

Let him who is taught the word share in all good things with him who teaches.

Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.

8 For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.

9 And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.

10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.

Giving is a very powerful thing when done by the Spirit in faith and joyfully.

It is so powerful that it can increase the fruits of your righteousness which brings great glory to God.

7 So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.

8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.

9 As it is written:

“He has dispersed abroad,
He has given to the poor;
His righteousness endures forever.”

10 Now may He who supplies seed to the sower, and bread for food, supply and multiply the seed you have sown and increase the fruits of your righteousness,

11 while you are enriched in everything for all liberality, which causes thanksgiving through us to God. 2 Corinthians 9:7-11

Our Attitude when giving determines the soil and the harvest of the seed sown

The key to giving that produces fruit, is our hearts.

If we love we will be givers, those who are greedy and selfish cannot give as they battle to give dues to the lack of love in their hearts.

The greatest givers are those filled with love in their hearts.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16

To live in contentment – and gratitude

we need to be led and have great peace and joy in our giving ---- our heart attitude will always influence the harvest

1 Timothy 6:6-10
Now godliness with contentment is great gain.

For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.

And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content.

But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition.

For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
